Production

After a lot of waiting and planning, we finally started filming and it..... didn't go so well. We had a lot of problems even getting the date set up, with the school year getting so busy at this point that it was really hard to pick a day where we were both available. When we finally nailed down a date and time, we got to the theater, did a little bit of walking and planning where the shots would be taken from and in what order, and then we pulled out the camera and started filming. Or at least we tried.

We were there Saturday night, and right when we were about to shoot everything, it started being swarmed with people, and we couldn't get any shots that didn't include an unwanted extra in the background. This really set us back, and by the time we got a little bit of room to shoot, something else went wrong, like a low battery phone, or a prop issue, or the fact that it was getting too dark to get quality footage. So, in the end, we didn't get much done, but we learned a lot about our project in the process.

The reason I say it was productive despite the series of challenges and let downs was because we got a really good idea of how our idea would play out in a real shooting situation. We learned some new opportunities in our filming location but also some new limitations, like how an area we wanted to use was actually fenced off, but we found a new one that we didn't think of before. We also got an idea of how the location fit in with the certain shots we were thinking of. Plus we got an experience of what the film process is actually like: difficult and frustrating.
